Luna Twilight revealed

Launching a make-up brand on the back of a film, to some is a little controversial and some would steer clear in fear of it being ‘tacky’. And if you might be one of that thinking, please, don’t turn away just yet… hear me out.

The romance that took the world by storm?

I’ve read a fair few beauty blog posts that have touched on this subject already and now the hype has calmed, here are my thoughts. I never saw the first film at the cinema, didn’t know much about it in fact. I wasn’t interested in seeing it because of the vampire theme, perhaps I was being naive - but I was sure that it would be too jumpy! I am of course talking of Twilight, which after watching the first of the sagas at home, turns out not as jumpy as I first imagined. I did like the film, and like most females became rather fond of Robert Pattinson, but I wasn’t first in line at the ticket box for New Moon, I was happy to wait for the DVD launch. However, I am not a film critic and I am not here to pass judgement on the film, my views are purely on the make-up quality itself!

Long lasting and great price

Long lasting and great price

Of heightened interest is the Twilight Lip Venom. (If you didn’t know already, Twilight was created with the help of Cristina Bartolucco, the founder and Creative Director of DuWop Cosmetics and of course we all know they are famous for their original lip plumper Lip Venom!) Twilight Lip Venom combines the original lip pluming genius with a crimson red stain. I have to agree with the comment Kate left on the customer review section, that you need to use this on softly moisturised lips for the best results. Compared to the prices of other lip stains, Twilight Lip Venom comes up trumps and being long lasting, you don’t even need to keep replacing it regularly! Thumbs up.

The Color Palettes are commonly described as the crowning jewels of the Luna Twilight collection so I tried out the soft, nude shades of Bella and actually, I was quite impressed. The first time I rocked up to work with my new shadows sitting pretty on my lids, I was greeted with ‘nice eyes’! Ok not a mind-blowing compliment but it was good to know the natural finish still looked impressive. Both the shadows in this sleek looking compact felt quite silky and were smooth to apply. They have an ever so subtle sparkle to them (when I say subtle I mean subtle, I don’t DO sparkle!) which catch the light just perfectly for a daytime look. To complete the palette, there’s a nude blush which is the perfect size (don’t you sometimes find a blush in a compact is just too small for your brush to pick any up?), and two lip colours. The palette didn’t come with any applicator brushes, possibly it’s only downfall, so I applied the lip shades with my fingertip which was easy enough. The nude lipstick was ok, but my favourite by far was the cherry red gloss. It’s not as daring as it looks on the palette and in fact is quite sheer with just a hint of colour. The overall look was perfect I say, for that awkward seasonal transition. A definite thumbs up.

Sleek packaging inspired by the film

All products within the range have sleek, grown up packaging. Reading about the inspiration behind the collection with it’s themes of love and longing, and it’s mission to give a new way to experience the timeless beauty and mystery that is Twilight, I wonder if I have been romanced into becoming a Twilight enthusiast? Whether I become a Twilight film fanatic is neither here nor there. what I can say is that I am genuinely impressed by the range that ‘allows women to highlight their own radiance’.

I am most intrigued to try out the First Light Face Glow or indeed the Body Glow. They sound gorgeous and if my first experience of the Luna Twilight make-up range is to go by, they should live up to their claims. I’m sure one of you out there has tried it already, so put me out of my misery and let me know what you thought!
